Jackson Keller Jr, DDS, age 73 passed away on September 13, 2025 at the St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Wabasha, MN due to complications from prostate cancer. He was born in Baltimore, Maryland to Frances and Jackson Keller Sr. He grew up in Baltimore and attended Sparrows Point High School. He attended Graceland College in Lamoni, Iowa where he met his wife Ann. He then attended the University of Maryland School of Dentistry in Baltimore MD. He served as a dentist in the Air Force for 3 years at the Minot, ND air force base.
Jack then set up his dental office in Alma, WI in 1983 and served the area for almost 42 years until his retirement in December 2024.
Jack and Ann Keller celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in June 2025. They had two children, Russell and Jessica.
Jack will be deeply missed by his wife Ann, daughter Jessica Keller (James Hides), one brother Roger Keller, 10 nieces and nephews, 11 great nieces and nephews, extended family members, and many family members on Ann’s side of the family. Jack very much loved his family and his family loved his sense of humor and quick wit.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, his son Russell Keller, and brother Robert Keller.
Jack loved fishing, whether trout fishing in the local streams, river fishing for walleye in the summer, or ice fishing in the winter. He also enjoyed tent camping, campfires, and often spent the night in a tent in the backyard. He loved deer hunting, traveling, hiking, outdoor music concerts, and working in his yard. He planted and raised over 110 magnolia trees and loved to raise Rhododendrons and a wide variety of other outdoor plants. He had a hobby of raising a variety of indoor plants that kept him busy at home in the winter time. He loved cold weather and could be seen driving his convertible with the top down when it was which is also how he transported the yearly Christmas tree. Jack had a great sense of humor and enjoyed bantering and trading jokes with friends and family, whether in person or online.
A Celebration of Life for Jackson will be held on Saturday, Sept 27, 2025 at the Talbot Family Funeral Home, 340 N. State Road 35, in Alma, WI 54610. Visitation will be from 1 – 3 PM with the Celebration of Life service at 3PM. In the spirit of a celebration of Jack’s life, you are invited to wear a tropical shirt, packer attire, fishing attire, or something that reminds you of Jack. We also invite you to share a fun story about Jack during the visitation or celebration of life service. Many of Jack’s houseplants will be displayed and you are invited to choose a plant to take home as a remembrance of him.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Friends of the Refuge Headwaters Organization, which is a non-profit group of volunteers that bring people out onto the Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife and Fish Refuge that he enjoyed so much, or to a charity of your choice.
