Jacob David McDonald, age 42, of Wisconsin Rapids, formerly of Plainfield, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday evening, January 25, 2026 of natural causes.
He was born August 18, 1983 in Stevens Point, the son of Paul McDonald Jr. and Cynthia L. Buckholt.
Jacob grew up in Plainfield and graduated from Tri-County High School. He was a very talented musician playing multiple instruments and often teaching himself to play without lessons. When Jacob was 9 years old, he played in the Glen McIntee Band. He was an avid outdoorsman that enjoyed fishing, nature and spending time with his family and friends. He attended Mid State Technical College, receiving his degree in political science. He was currently employed at the Holiday Inn for the past 15 years as a night auditor. His great love was his family.
He is survived by his 5 children, Michael, Gabby, Alex, Crace and Eva McDonald; his mother and stepfather, Cynthia McDonald Schmidtke and Jeff Schmidtke; his sister, Denise Granados; nephew, Dalton McDonald; special cousins, Kurt and Josh Krutzik and Ashley Buckholt; further survived by aunts, uncles, cousins other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Paul McDonald Jr.; brother, Jordan and maternal and paternal grandparents.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Plainfield Senior Center. Stahl Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements, www.stahlfuneralhome.com
