Jacob B. Post died peacefully on June 9, 2024, at the age of 87, surrounded by loved ones including his wife and family. What a glorious reunion he must be having with his beloved mother, father and family who have passed before him.

On July 17, 1936, Jake was born at the Thomas D. Dee Memorial Hospital in Ogden, Utah. He was the oldest of seven children born to Balster and Geesien (Jane) Post. He learned the value of hard work and persistence growing up working on his family's farm. He played football and wrestled for Weber High and went on to win a football scholarship to BYU. He later earned an associate's degree from Weber State College where he wrestled and was co-captain of the football team.

Jake met his wife, Belva Jean Rumsey, on a blind date. For him, it was love at first sight. They were married on April 12, 1957, in the Idaho Falls Temple. She has been an amazing source of comfort and strength throughout their 67 years together.

After 40 years of employment, he retired from the United States Postal Service where he worked as a clerk. His USPS employment began in Ogden. He was later transferred to the Salt Lake area.

Jake and Belva were blessed with four daughters. When the kids were younger, the family traveled extensively throughout the United States. Although he did not enjoy flying, he overcame his fear and was able to visit every continent except Antarctica. Jake always wanted to see what was over the next mountain.

Activities he enjoyed included: playing games with friends and family, watching Jazz games, attending University of Utah football games, playing racquet ball, gardening, and reading.

Many people can remember Jake running along Wasatch Blvd. This is something he did five days a week for many years. Additionally, he completed four St. George Marathons, one of those with his grandson, Jared. Some of his accomplishments were hiking across the Grand Canyon twice, climbing to the top of Mt. Olympus, and reaching the summit of Angel's Landing in Zion's National Park at the age of 74.

He loved and served the Lord his entire life. Spirituality was one of his greatest strengths. He served in many callings including Elder's Quorum President and Sunday School teacher. He also completed a service mission at the Family History Center in Salt Lake City.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Henry, and his two sisters, Harmina and Anna. Jake is survived by his wife, Belva; his four daughters: Nancy (Mack) Steffensen, Lisa (Milt) Thulin, Lynette (Clark) Adams and Michelle (Jeremy) Best; 12 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

One thing we have always known is that he Loves us, and we will miss him dearly!

Many thanks to the staff at Intermountain Hospice, and our deepest thanks to Liliana Smouse for her loving, exceptional care of our dad during his last six months of life.
