Jacob William Ray, 23, of Taylorville, West Virginia, passed away on November 12, 2025, in Lenore, West Virginia, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
Born June 26, 2002, in South Williamson, Kentucky, Jacob was the beloved son of John and Crystal Tiller Ray. He attended Burch Middle School and Mingo Central High School and was a member of New Beginning Community Church. Jacob was employed with Asplundh Tree Service.
Jacob was full of life and energy. He loved boxing and was a talented fighter, winning numerous Cage Line Fighting matches and three Toughman contests. Known as the life of the party, Jacob's contagious smile and joyful spirit lit up every room. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and had a deep passion for speed-whether it was riding motorcycles, four-wheelers, or side-by-sides. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish his memory include his parents, John and Crystal Ray; his fiancée, Faith Pridemore Ray; his children, Grayson Ray, Justice Ray, Thomas "Bubby" McCann, and Carolina Green; and his sisters, Alexandria Ray (Zach Telfer) and Brittany Ray (Austin Toops). He is also survived by his grandparents, Patty Copley and Roger and Patsy Ray, and is preceded in death by his grandfather, Tommy Tiller.
Jacob's extended family includes his aunts and uncles, Michael (Jennifer) Ray, Roger Dale (Leann) Ray, Gary (Ruby) Ray, Robert (Betty) Hammond, and Angela Ray; a special cousin, Rebecca Ray; nieces, Emily, Briley, Brinley, Zaylee, Natalie, and Kalani; and close friends, Rex White, Kaden Scott, and Billy Mitchem.
He is welcomed into Heaven by his dear friends who went before him-Gavin Perry, Breydon Floyd, Scotty Pickerton, and Alex Smith.
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 17, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at New Beginning Community Church, with Rev. Jason Allen, Rev. Brian Wellman, and Rev. Ethan Ray officiating. Burial will follow in the Ray Family Cemetery at Taylorville. Visitation will be held at the church on Sunday evening after 6:00 p.m., with services beginning at 7:00 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Rex White, Bob Hammond, Roger Dale Ray, Michael Ray, Kaden Scott, Billy Mitchem, Austin Toops, and Zach Telfer.
