Jacob Donovan Smoot, a lifelong resident of Bakersfield, California, passed away unexpectedly on September 7, 2023. Born on May 24, 1989, Jacob was a beloved son, brother, father, grandson, uncle, and friend to many. Jacob was a shining light in the lives of those who knew him. Jacob was the cherished son of mother Sami Smoot and father Thomas L Smoot. He was a proud father to his son, Cole. He was a loving brother to Kody and Travis Smoot, and Tamara Huss, and loved his numerous nieces and nephews. He held a special place in his heart for his grandparents, Donald Sedwick, and Marilyn and Kenneth Wagner. Jacob was predeceased by his brother, Thomas C Smoot, whose memory he tried to honor every day. Jacob attended local schools and was a proud high school graduate. From a young age, Jacob discovered a passion for working with his hands and turned it into a successful career in landscaping, plumbing, and welding. In addition, he was a talented handyman who could fix anything. Jacob was a man of many talents and passions. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to go on adventures. His love for the outdoors was only surpassed by his love for his family. He was a loving friend, always ready to lend a hand or a listening ear. His memory will be forever etched in the hearts of those who loved him. His passing leaves a void that can never be filled, but his memory will be cherished forever. Jacob struggled with his disease of addiction most of his adult life. He was very active in the local Recovery community. If you need help please reach out, tell somebody.
