Jacqueline Pearson “Jackie” Adams, 87, of Durham went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 28, 2025, at home with her children at her side. Jackie was born November 12, 1937 in Wilson, NC to the late Donald Pearson and Josephine Barnes Pearson.
In addition to her parents Jackie is preceded in death by her husband Larry Adams; sisters, Shirley Lynch, Peggy Taylor, and Judith Raper.
She is survived by her son Larry Donald “Don” Adams of Bahama; daughter, Stella Adams Wilson and husband Eric of Youngsville, NC; grandchildren, Christina Robbins and husband Michael, and Jonathan Hopkins; and great granddaughter Charlotte Robbins.
Jackie moved to Durham after attending beauty school in Raleigh, and marrying her late husband Larry of Durham. She was a hairstylist in Durham until she retired at the age of 79, establishing many lasting friendships during that time with both her customers and her work family.
She was a member of Glendale Heights Methodist Church until their closing in September 2024, and active in the Primetimers group at Bethesda Baptist Church for many years where she enjoyed fellowship with the other members, and traveling on various trips throughout those years with them. She loved working out in her yard, shopping, especially for flowers, traveling, eating out with her friends and family, but most of all, spending time with children, grandchildren and great granddaughter. She will be deeply missed by her family.
The family would like to express tremendous gratitude to the ladies who provided wonderful care to mama over the last three years at home; Melissa Walters who was present for the entire three years, as well as Ann Fisher, Jennie Pearce, Susan Suitt, Vanita Farmer, Michelle Wigley, Lauren Barker and Joan Kipligat.
A visitation will be held April 2, 2025, at Hudson Funeral Home from 12:30 p.m. until 2 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating with be Reverend Jeff Roberts.
Flowers are acceptable. However, donations can be made to Duke Hospice, 4321 Medical Park Dr. Suite 101, Durham, NC 27704.
