Irma Baucom Tapp, 84 of Southport, NC passed away peacefully on October 4, 2025, at Novant Health in Boliva, NC. She was born on October 15, 1940 in Durham, NC to the late Willam R. and Irma Gunter Baucom.
In addition to her devoted husband, Louis Tapp of 64 years, she will be missed by her five loving children, Eddie Tapp (Jackie), David Tapp (Camille), Janet Rockenhauser, Karen Clayton (Will), and Steven Tapp. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Tyler and Cameron Tapp, Joseph Aprea, Tiffany Smith, David Hunter Tapp, Matthew and Adam Rockenhauser, and Allison Clayton; ten great-grandchildren as well as her sister, Linda Rocker and sister-in-law, Virginia Robinson, and many loved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her infant son, Louis Anthony Tapp; great-granddaughter, Bailey Elizabeth Smith; sisters, Rebecca Beaman, Ann Olds, Patty Garrett, and Rachel Cheek; brothers, Roy Baucom, Jr., James Baucom, Leonard Baucom, and Pete Baucom.
Irma will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandma, and "maw maw".
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, October 10, 2025, at Hudson Funeral Home, 211 S. Miami Blvd., Durham, NC 27703. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens in Durham, NC. Father Hugh Macsherry will officiate.
The family will receive friends prior to the service starting at 1:00 P.M.
