Gerrie Lou Watkins Little, 89, of Durham passed away on October 8, 2025, at Duke Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Little was born on January 17, 1936, during a snowstorm, in Hillsborough, NC, to the late Charles and Margueritte Watkins.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Little is predeceased by her husband of 46 years Bruce Cornell Little, a daughter Bonnie Evans and son-in-law Ron Montgomery.
Mrs. Little is survived by her daughters, Luanne Goodfellow and husband John, Pattie Montgomery and Karen Outland and husband Dr. Randy Outland; sons, Dwight C. Little and wife Janet, Dr. S. Gray Little and wife Paula and Dr. Barry “Bo” Little and wife Kelly; brother, Jimmy Watkins and wife Candy; grandchildren, Joshua Little, Ben Little and wife Meg, Andy Little and wife Courtney, Paul Outland and wife Lindsay, Laura Graham and husband Chad, Cristan Martin and husband Seth; great grandchildren, Rosalee Little, Kaylin Graham, Aiden Graham, Madison Graham, Allison Grace Graham, Cora Outland and Elias Outland, and several nieces.
Mrs. Little retired from General Telephone Company after many years of dedicated service. She also worked as a substitute teacher at Neal Junior High and Southern High School. She and her husband, Bruce, were longtime members of Bethesda Baptist Church, where she faithfully taught Sunday School for many years. She also regularly participated in the Prime Timers Group and Vacation Bible School.
Mrs. Little was a devoted and loving mother, always willing to help others and share her kind and thoughtful advice. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, sparkling personality, and the love she showed to everyone around her.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday October 14, 2025, from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. at Bethesda Baptist Church followed by a funeral service a 1 p.m. Reverend Jonathan Barbee will officiate the service.
Burial will follow at Brier Creek Memorial Gardens.
Flowers are acceptable or donations to Bethesda Baptist Church, 1914 S. Miami Blvd. Durham, NC 27703.
