Jackie passed to the eternal swimming pool on July 28, 2025 at the Greenwood Village, at the age of 89. Jackie was the daughter of Dorothy and John Bowersox, all long-time residents of East Walnut Street, Derry Township. She is survived by a brother Todd and sister-in-law Judy Bowersox of Centre Hall, and three nieces Natalie Stem, Elizabeth Bowersox and Cortney Hewitt and husband Russ. Jackie had four great nephews Oliver Stem, Eli Stem and fiancé Katie Hester, Braylon Hewitt and Bentley Hewitt. Jackie was a 1953 graduate of Burnham Derry Joint School. She was a member of the Ellen Chapel Church. Jackie was a forever leader of programs at the Juniata Valley YMCA where she was the director of aquatic programs. She taught thousands of infants to retirees how to swim at Derry Township Community Park, Rec Park, Burnham Community Park and the YMCA. She continued to direct the aquatic exercise program - Menopausal Mermaids until December 2022. Jackie worked with many organizations, including American Red Cross, Easter Seal Society, Mental Health- Mental Retardation Association and Special Olympics to provide instruction in swimming and lifesaving. Next to her passion for swimming, Jackie was a strong supporter of Notre Dame football. The family would like to thank her friends and care givers over the years for their care and support. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Jackie's memory may be made to the Juniata Valley YMCA. A visitation will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday August 2, 2025 with a service at 2:00 pm at the King Funeral Home and Crematory, 47 Carriage House Lane in Reedsville.
