Obituary published on Legacy.com by Palmer Funeral Homes - River Park on Jun. 17, 2025.
Jacqueline Diane Hersom, a cherished soul whose warmth and kindness touched all who knew her, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on June 15, 2025, at the age of 73. Born on July 10, 1951, to Jonnie and Vivian Davis, both of whom preceded her in death, her life was full of love, dedication, and joy, shaped by family, friendship, and a zest for life that was unmistakably hers.
Jacqueline's heart found its match in Robert E. Hersom, her devoted husband, with whom she shared a life full of laughter and mutual respect. Together, they created a family that was Jacqueline's pride and joy. She was a loving mother to Tracey (Rodney) Fick, Candy Hersom, and Robin Hersom, all of South Bend, and Tim (Emma) Hoyt of Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts. Her legacy continued through her grandchildren, including Jessica Zepeda of Las Vegas, Thomas (Kim) Kurtz of Osceola, Tanner Carpenter and Tyler (Ally) Carpenter of South Bend, Ciara and Sam Hoyt of Martha's Vineyard, and her great-grandchildren Aliyana, Dominic, Jolene, and Judson. She also held a special place in her heart for her bonus grandchildren, Natalie and Cameron Fick. She will be fondly remembered by her niece, Carrie Gee of South Bend, and great-nephews, Breon and Braxton Hereford. Jacquline is proceeded in death by her Sister Paula Davis and Grandson Michael Carpenter Jr.
Jacqueline's professional life was marked by her 16-year tenure at Marshall Fields where she retired in 2006 and continued to spread positivity in her position at McDonald's. Beyond her work, Jacqueline's interests were a reflection of her love for life and family. She was an avid reader, coloring book connoisseur, and a collector of knick knacks. The family cabin in Michigan served as a sanctuary where countless memories were made. She cherished the simple pleasure of going out to dinner with her husband, where they shared their day's stories and planned for the future.
Jacqueline's life was a testament to the power of love and the strength of family bonds. Her presence was a comforting constant, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who were fortunate enough to know her. As we say goodbye to Jacqueline Diane Hersom, we celebrate a life lived with grace, a spirit that was generous and kind, and a legacy that will continue to inspire and guide us. Her light, though no longer with us in this world, will forever shine in the hearts of her loved ones.
There are no goodbyes for us.
Wherever you are,
you will always be in my heart.
