Jacqueline Hole Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by O'Neill-Hayes Funeral Home - Newport on Feb. 19, 2026.
Jacqueline Feeney Hole, 81 of Newport, RI died on February 17, 2026 at Village House in Newport surrounded by her greatest legacy, her family. Born on June 11, 1944 in Newport, RI. She was the daughter of the late John "Jack" Feeney and Edna Hanson Feeney. She was a 1962 graduate of Rogers High School, where she met the love of her life, Henry Richard Hole, Jr. (Rick). Rick fell in love with Jackie's red hair and independent spirit. She was the cheerleader, he was the football player. Together they had a beautiful love story.

Jackie graduated from Rhode Island Hospital School of Nursing in 1965, she also received her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Salve Regina University, and her Master of Science degree in health education from Rhode Island College. Jackie spent her entire working years as a Registered Nurse caring for people all over Aquidneck Island. She loved her days working at Grand Islander, Visiting Nurses, and many years as a school nurse in the Newport Public Schools.

She loved to support her kids and never missed an opportunity to cheer them on. She was even brave enough to serve as the Rogers High School cheer coach when her daughters were cheerleaders.

After retirement, Jackie spent some of her best years wintering in Cape Coral, Florida, where she was a regular at Red Sox spring training and socializing with her wonderful community of friends. When Mother's Day came each year, she and Rick would return to Aquidneck Island to spend the summer with her family by the pool and proudly cheering on her grandchildren in whatever activities they participated in. She could often be seen driving around in her white Mustang convertible with Jimmy Buffett playing and her granddaughters in the back squealing in laughter.

Jackie spent her life caring for others, but she also spent her life lifting the spirits of others. She loved a fun time. She loved to travel, sing, and toast with a cold glass of chardonnay with ice. After her husband's passing in 2012, Jackie honored Rick's wish to carry on. She and her beloved friend, Twinkie, spent the next 5 years traveling the world together, making lemons out of lemonade. They affectionately were called Thelma and Louise by their families.

Jackie leaves behind three daughters who loved to call her Mamacita: Jennifer Hole of Portsmouth, Heather Hole Strout of Middletown, and Jonna Hole of Portsmouth. She also leaves five grandchildren, who loved every minute they spent with Nana: Christopher Strout, Adeleine Conheeny, Jenna Strout, Anna Conheeny, and Adam Conheeny, Jr. She also leaves her beloved dog Ginger, who was her sidekick for 11 years. Jackie was also the sister of the late Dorothy Feeney.

Jackie also leaves many brothers and sisters-in-laws, nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

Jackie's family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers who have helped her over these past two years, especially Dr. Jayanthi Parameswaran, the staff at Atria Aquidneck Place, Village House, and Home Hospice. They would also like to give much gratitude to Jenni Davis Corbett, who stood by her side and brought smiles to her face over this past year. You are all heroes.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, February 25th from 4:00-6:00PM at the O'Neill Hayes Funeral Home, 465 Spring St, Newport. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, February 26th at 11:00AM at St. Mary's Church, corner of Spring St & Memorial Blvd (parking 12 William St) Newport. Burial will follow at St. Columba Cemetery, 465 Browns Ln, Middletown.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Jackie's favorite charity, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center, 20 Dr. Marcus Wheatland Blvd. Newport, RI 02840, mlkccenter.org.
