Jacqueline "Jackie" E. Koenig, 59, of rural Peru, Indiana passed unexpectedly after a brief medical issue on Monday, March 17, 2025 at Lutheran Hospital of Ft. Wayne, Indiana.
Jackie was born on May 22, 1965 in Rochester, Indiana to Thomas and Sharon (Walters) Fites. She was a graduate of Tippecanoe Valley High School and furthered her education at St. Francis of Ft. Wayne studying Art. She won many awards for art, which included national recognition, and was a former Akron 4th of July Queen. She married on March 14, 1987 in Claypool, Indiana to D. Bruce Koenig, they had 38 years together.
Jackie owned Eileen and Friends Country Crafts and worked for Harvey Hinklemeyers both of Peru. She also had been a bus driver and worked in the cafeteria for North Miami Schools. Most of all she enjoyed being a housewife, mom and grandma. She also liked visiting area antique stores and fishing.
She is survived by her husband Bruce Koenig of Peru; daughter Rachel Koenig of Kokomo; son Kyle and wife Jennifer Koenig of Kokomo; grandchildren Koy, Eli and Lilli; parents Tom and Sharon Fites of Akron; sisters Jill and husband Raymond Wood of Akron and Emily and husband Tim Deneve of Claypool; and brother Paul Fites and companion Brittnay Hall of Akron.
A celebration of her life will take place from 5 pm to 7 pm, Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at Hartzler Funeral Home 305 West Rochester Street Akron, Indiana with Pastor Bryan Rouch officiating a memorial service at 7:00 pm.
Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the local animal shelter of the donor's choosing.
