Jackie was born March 12, 1931, at home in Council Bluffs to Clarence and Maxine Dettman. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1949, where she was a very active member of The National Honor Society, also a cheerleader, sang in the choir and more. Jackie married Donnelly E. Langston, Jr., on June 25, 1955. They had two children, Cheri and Don, III. Jackie worked at the Union Pacific Railroad for 33 years of service and retired as Chief Clerk to the Assistant Superintendent of the Nebraska Division. During that long service time, she was also a member of the Junior Old Timers Club, and the Executive Women's International. Jackie and Don retired to Bella Vista, Ark., in 1983, where she really enjoyed swimming, ceramics, and playing cards with her many friends. Jackie was also very involved in several other local organizations there. She moved back to the Council Bluffs area, in December 2007, to be near her own family living in this area.

Jackie was preceded in death by her husband, Donnelly; son, Trey; mother, Maxine; and stepfather, William Jorgensen; father, Clarence Dettman; brother, Duane Dettman; and her nephew, Brad Jensen.

Survivors include daughter, Cheri and husband, Ronald "RC" Tefft; granddaughters, Jessica and husband, Aaron Bartles, Sarah and husband, Ryan Letheby; grandsons, Samuel and wife, Joanna Tefft, and David Tefft; great grandson, Gavin Tefft; sisters, Donna Jensen, Judy and husband, Carl Wilson; brother, John and wife, Patti Dettman; sister-in-law, Donaldine Dettman; along with nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held Saturday, June 2nd, at the Hoy/Kilnoski Funeral Home from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. A memorial service will begin at 4 p.m., officiated by Pastor Michael York. A reception will follow at the funeral home. Private family burial services are to be held at the Cedar Lawn Cemetery at a future date. Jackie was one of most positive people I have ever met, always a smile. She had an infectious laugh that I just loved.......I was only 21 & Jackie was 41 when we met in May of ' 72, she took time & interest to teach this wet behind the ears kid how this " stuff " all worked. Wonderful Women, I loved her.

Jackie was a good friend at Tee Jay High School. We lived in the same C.B. neighborhood. She was very popular and a neat person. I lost track of her except seeing her at a class reunion. I will always remember her. I just today discovered her obit on the internet. I am sorry for your loss of a great gal. Roger Witke class of '49.

I work at Midlands Living Center and absolutely loved this woman. I would always stop what I was doing to help her when she needed it. She was especially nice to everyone and was a pleasure to be around. I never seen her without a smile on her face. She will be missed and will always be on my mind.

Cheri: I feel a loss in Jackie's passing, she meant alot to me and we had and shared many things that were not work related. I was just a punk kid when I met your Mother in May, 1972. She went with me to pick out Trish's engagement ring and was always there for me. I will/have missed her over the years and should have kept in touch and feel bad about that. Cherish the memories as your Mother lived life to the fullest and will always be in my heart.

May time and grief pass swiftly...may memories last forever and memories abound with Jackie. Her laughter was contagious; her antics were hilarious...she was one of a kind and we will miss her. May God give you comfort at this time.
