Jacqueline "Jill" D. (DeWitt) Sobieralski, a wife, mother and grandmother full of love and kindness, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2025, at Brentwood Memory Care in Niles, Michigan, after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Born on November 12, 1936 in Benton Harbor, Michigan, she was a daughter to the late Harold and Genevieve DeWitt and grew into a remarkable woman who touched the lives of many.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard Sobieralski and her siblings, Duane DeWitt, Wathena "Wally" Dodge, Joan Mills and her twin brother, Jack DeWitt. Her legacy continues through her devoted children, Todd (Becky) Sobieralski Sr., and Dawn (Mike) Richards, as well as her adored grandchildren Todd (Blanca) Sobieralski Jr., Joe Sobieralski, Nathan (Kelly) Semrinec, Garrett (Lauren) Semrinec, Elliott (Rachel) Richards, and her cherished great-grandchildren Olivia Semrinec, Kennedy Semrinec, Kaylee Semrinec, Adalynn Semrinec, Madeline Richards, Victoria Sobieralski and Hannah Bradbury.
Jill worked various manufacturing jobs eventually landing at Schneider Vending, retiring after 12 years as a food service worker, known for her strong work ethic and love of cooking. She was a great friend to many and her genuine warmth is going to be missed.
Known for her "always requested" potato salad, Jill also loved to travel and shop. She took great pride in her home and yard. Friends and family often spoke of her meticulous nature and how she created a welcoming and beautiful space for all to enjoy. Her favorite times were those spent with her grandchildren, hosting sleepovers filled with games and movies, followed by her special breakfast of eggs and bacon. She also never missed attending her grandchildren's sporting events.
Her passing is a great loss to all that knew her. May her soul rest in peace as we celebrate the remarkable woman she was and the incredible legacy she leaves behind.
A time of visitation will take place on Sunday, July 27, 2025 from 5-6 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, with services the following day, Monday July 28, 2025 beginning at 11 a.m. She will be laid to rest at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens
Special thanks to the caring staff at Brentwood and Heartland Hospice for the care they provided.
Those wishing to make a memorial donation have been asked to consider Alzheimer's Association 111 Sunnybrook Ct, South Bend, IN 46637.
