Jacqueline Stout Obituary

Jacqueline Bedard Stout, 85, of Muncie, Indiana, died suddenly on May 11, 2022, in the care of her loving husband, Paul Stout. She was born in Waltham, MA on July 22, 1936, to the late Gabriel Bedard and Lauretta Paige Bedard, and lived in Springfield, attending public schools there. At 16, she graduated from Cathedral High School in 1953, then from Westfield State College (now University) in 1957 and received her master’s degree from Springfield College. She taught in the Agawam public schools, and after her marriage, and a move to Riverside, CA, taught there as well. They subsequently settled in Muncie, IN where she continued to teach reading to youngsters needing additional assistance in reading. Jackie was an excellent cook, and an expert seamstress. A voracious reader, she passed on her love of books to her son and nieces and nephews. She was an active parishioner in her parish and served many years as a lector and extraordinary minister. Although she has lived away for 50 years, she continued to think of Springfield as her hometown, and loved her annual visits to family and to Cape Cod. Swimming was a lifelong pleasure, whether in the ocean, lake, or pool! Jackie devoted herself to her family and demonstrated an unconditional love for her husband and son David. Her devotion was inspirational in its completeness, generosity, and steadfastness. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Paul Stout, her son David Stout, both of Muncie, and her brother, Philip Bedard and his wife, Josie, of San Antonio, TX, her sister, Patricia Bedard Triggs and her husband, Robert Triggs, of Springfield, MA. In addition, she leaves her loving nieces and nephews, and their spouses and children, Marianne Smith, (Gordon), Michael Triggs, (Angelo Cosme), Catherine Orellana, (Mauricio), all of Springfield MA, and Daniel Triggs (Angela) of Hingham, MA, Anthony Bedard (Raquel) of El Cerrito, CA, Ana Bedard (Larry Fisher) of Barrington IL, and Joseph Bedard (Shani) of Los Angeles, CA. She was predeceased by her niece, Celeste Bedard. She was greatly loved and will be missed by those of us left behind. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at 11:00 am at Holy Name Church, 323 Dickinson St., Springfield, MA 01108. Friends and family may gather starting at 10:30 am at the Church. Rights of burial to follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery, 1601 State Street, Springfield, MA. For those desiring to make a memorial contribution, they may make it to the International Obsessive Compulsive Disorder Foundation, P.O. Box 961029, Boston MA 02196 Memory of Jacqueline Stout.

Patricia, I have fond memories of playing croquet years ago in your yard on Demond St. with Jackie, you and other girls from the old neighborhood. Those were such good old days. My sincere sympathy to you and your family. May Jackie rest in peace.

My condolences and prayers are with Paul and David Stout and the Bedard and Triggs families.
I have fond memories of Phillip, Jackie and Patricia that go way back to the early days of Penny and me visiting Grampa and Gramma Paige on Demond St.
