Jacquelyn K. Bartell, 72, died April 18, 2025 (Good Friday) at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, IL, after a short illness.
Jacque was born in Cedar Rapids, IA, on December 27, 1952, to Elmer and Katherine Elizabeth (Betty) Yanda Davis. She was educated in public schools in the Chicago suburbs, graduating in 1971 from Lincolnway High School. In her younger days she worked at various insurance agencies in both Illinois and Southern California.
On June 17, 1984, she married Thomas L. Bartell in Pasadena, CA. In addition to Southern California, they lived in various homes in the western Chicago suburbs and south-central Iowa before retiring to Manteno, IL to live near her relatives.
Their two children, Peter and Alexandra, were adopted from Irkutsk and Magadan, Russia, respectively.
An avid sewer, Jacque will be remembered for the handmade quilts and afghans she made for relatives and friends. She was a chapter coordinator for 20 years for the Project Linus charity, during which time she collected and distributed over 10,000 blankets to traumatized and seriously ill children.
She participated in the DuPage County and Kankakee chapters of the General Federation of Women's Clubs over the last 25 years, holding office at both the local and regional levels. In 2017, she was honored for her volunteer work as Woman Citizen of the Year in Carol Stream, IL.
At the time of her death, she was the treasurer of the River Valley Pregnancy Resource Center at 205 N. Washington, St, in Bradley, IL, and the Kankakee Women's Club, and bookkeeper for Heartland Christian Association.
She was a talented musician; she played piano, accordion and clarinet, as well as she sang alto in various church choirs over the years.
Tom and Jacque loved to travel, seeing almost every US state, as well as touring in Italy and China.
She is survived by her husband; her two children: Peter, at home, and Alexandra in Umatilla, FL; her older sister, Joyce Hill also of Manteno; her aunt, Dorothy Wharton of Cedar Rapids, IA; as well as many nephews, nieces, great nephews and nieces; and great-great nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, David and Donald Davis.
Her body has been cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, May 3, 2025, from 1:30 to 4:00 pm at the Christian Church of Manteno, 401 E. 3rd St, Manteno, IL 60950 with a memorial service beginning at 3:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given in her name to Project Linus, River Valley Pregnancy Resource Center or Heartland Christian Association. They may be sent to 266 Vine Street, Manteno, IL 60950.
She was a true Christian in every way, willingly serving wherever and whenever needed. She will be greatly missed, but we know that she is now in the arms of our Lord, patiently waiting for that day in the future when she will be reunited with her many friends and family in the Resurrection of the Saints.

Tom, we are sorry for your loss. Jacque was a very caring and hard working individual. I admired what she did for Woman's Club. We were very grateful at Heritage Presbyterian for her help with our Trial of Jesus production a few years ago - she had a lovely voice.
