Jacquelyn T. Cheesman
May 20, 1943 – December 10, 2025
Jacquelyn T. "Jackie" Cheesman went home to be with her Lord and Savior on December 10, 2025. Born on May 20, 1943, in
Hartford, Connecticut, Jackie was the beloved daughter of David and Marguerite Tongren. She spent her formative years in Wethersfield and
Norwich, CT, where she developed the warmth, faith, and openness of spirit that would define her entire life.
Jackie was educated at Norwich Free Academy in
Norwich, CT, and later attended Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina. After graduating, she worked at the University for several years before discovering her passion for teaching. She shared that passion at a Christian school on Long Island, New York, before later serving in fiscal roles for several Long Island companies and at the V.A. Medical Center in
Northport, NY.
A resident of
Canton, Georgia, for the past 19 years, Jackie became a cherished member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church community. She participated in the women's ministries, senior adult fellowship, and for a time sang in the church choir-another expression of the joy and gratitude she carried in her heart.
Above all else, Jackie was a woman of deep and steadfast faith. A devoted follower of Jesus Christ, she welcomed every opportunity to share her testimony and Christian walk with others. Her bright smile, kind heart, generous spirit, and engaging personality endeared her to everyone she met. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend-steadfast, loving, and full of grace.
Jackie found joy in crafts, decorating, gardening, and traveling with her husband of 57 years, G. Arthur Cheesman. Their life together was marked by love, laughter, and shared adventure.
She is survived by her husband, G. Arthur Cheesman of
Canton, GA; her son, Robert Cheesman of
Flagstaff, AZ; her daughter, Cathleen Moffitt of
Canton, GA; and her grandsons, Colin, Brandon, Hayden, Dylan, and Shane Moffitt. She is also survived by her sister, June Willhite of
Littleton, CO.
Jackie's legacy is one of love, faith, and a life lived with purpose. She will be deeply missed by the many hearts she touched.
