Jade Garren Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Davenport Funeral Home, Inc. - Walhalla/West Union on Dec. 9, 2025.
Jade Alicia Garren, 41, of West Union, SC, beloved wife, mother, LaLa, sister, daughter, aunt, and friend, passed away on December 7, 2025. She leaves a void among those who loved her that can never be filled.

Jade was born February 26, 1984 in Rock Hill, SC to Paulett and Galen Garren. She spent her childhood in Oconee County, SC at her family's home on Lake Becky in the Mountain Rest community. She was a student, and later, Special Education professional at Walhalla High School. She also attended school at John T. Hoggard High School in Wilmington, NC.

Jade began her journey as a mother at a young age and became a fierce and loving mom to five children who she supported through many life

experiences.

After the birth of her youngest twin sons, Jade ensured their unique medical, social, and educational needs were met - working tirelessly to ensure they had the opportunity to learn and thrive alongside their peers. This part of Jade's life motivated her to pursue a career in special education.

Jade worked as a paraprofessional for Oconee County Schools, meeting the complex needs of students with emotional, social, and learning differences. She affirmed the importance of respect, dignity, and inclusion for her students, always believing there was a place for them to learn and be accepted for who they were.

At the time of her passing, Jade was pursuing a teaching degree to continue her journey as an educator.

Among her accomplishments, Jade loved beyond measure during a life of service to her family. She overcame many personal hardships with tenacity and faith, and showed up for the people in her circle time and time again.

Jade was funny, loud, opinionated, and smart as a whip. When she laughed with wild abandon, it made you do the same. Her memory recall was legendary and made her the 'go-to' source for verifying information, and importantly - family lore, which she recalled with uncanny accuracy and a generous dose of humor. She found joy in crafting and thrifting, and filled her home with pieces that spoke to her spirit - reminders of what mattered most.

Jade was preceded in death by her father: Galen R. Garren; as well as a host of paternal and maternal elders in her family.

She will be terribly missed by those she leaves behind to honor her memory including her devoted husband: Shawn Milner; and cherished children: Tristen Garren, Tyler James, Jayden James (Noah), Cayson Milner, and Cullen Milner. Also left to remember is Jade's mother: Paulett Garren; and loving siblings: Shelley Chappell (Chris), Allison Mangkang (Mag), Melissa Barnes, and Kade Garren. She was loved immensely by her nieces and nephews: Emerson Barnes, Lillian Barnes, Riley Mangkang, Cole Chappell, Colin Chappell, Brailey Bell-Vernon, Holden Garren, Brecken Garren, Tanner Garren; granddaughter: Karli Jo Garren; and great- nephew: Garren Barnes.

Graveside services will be held at 3:30 PM on Saturday, December13, 2025, at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 2:30 PM – 3:30 PM, prior to the service, at Davenport Funeral Home.

Flowers are accepted.
