After much illness God called to rest his son Jafers Thomas on Friday, June 19, 2023 at the age of 87.
Jafers was born in Midway, Florida to (predeceased parents) George and Lector Thomas he was the ninth of ten children. He relocated to Maryland at very young age. then settled in Rochester, NY in 1971. Jafers was a beloved husband, father, brother and friend, he will truly be missed.
Prior to moving to Rochester Jafers was employed by Chrysler Motors, after that as a long distance tractor trailer driver, while in Rochester he worked for Bedford Paving for years. During his retirement years he worked at a Security company.
Jafers loved to sing and had a beautiful voice. He was passionate about singing and traveled around the city to hear other's sing as well. He was a devoted husband and father. He loved his family as well as his church family, he was a kind and lovable person with a captivating smile.
Jafers leaves to cherish his memory wife Evelyn Thomas sister Willie Stokes, sister in-law Sharon Jefferson, children Lisa Jones, Joseph Walker, Robert, Kevin and Marvin Thomas. (predeceased) children Sabrina Walker Angie Riggins, Robin Thomas. (predeceased siblings RM McGill, Lorraine Chestnut, HarryLee Thomas, Teletha Tinsley, Nathaniel Thomas, Carlester Thomas, Lawrence Thomas, Clara Jones,
He also leaves 19 grandkids, 18 great grand and 2 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
