October 26, 2025, at the age of 95. Predeceased by her first husband, John E. Blair; son, Kenneth A. Blair; second husband, Wolfgang G. Ettinger; sister, Betty S. (Thomas) Gorman. Survived by her daughter, Patricia (Charles) Ackerman; grandsons, Charles (Emily) Ackerman and Scott Ackerman; stepdaughter, Anne (Scott) Tubbs; granddaughters, Rachel Tubbs, Melinda (Mike) Paltridge and Heather (Frank) Miller; two great grandchildren.
Carolyn was born in Cleveland, Ohio and graduated from Shaker Heights H.S. She then graduated with a BFA from Ohio Wesleyan University where she joined and was a lifelong member of the Delta Gamma Fraternity.
Carolyn married John in 1955. John's job with General Electric moved them to New York City where they lived in Fresh Meadows. Carolyn worked as a proofreader for an advertising agency in NYC.
GE then moved them to Rochester where they settled in Penfield. They adopted Ken and two years later had Tricia.
Carolyn played golf and tennis well into her 80's. She and John were charter members at Penfield Country Club.
After John's passing, Carolyn met and married Wolf. Their love of travel took them on many adventures including the Galapagos and Canary Islands.
Carolyn purchased Bradley Meade Interiors in the mid-80's. For over ten years she helped create beautiful spaces for clients.
Carolyn was a consummate volunteer. In her early days in Penfield, she was active in the Newcomers Club, the Friday Club and the Association for the Blind. She later dedicated much of her time to The George Eastman Museum and The Memorial Art Gallery. She was also an active member for many years with the Rochester Garden Club and the Chatterbox Club.
Carolyn was the most thoughtful and caring mom, grandmother and friend; always making sure everyone else was taken care of and comfortable. We will miss her and her big, beautiful smile.
A funeral service will be held at Christ Church of Pittsford (36 S. Main St., Pittsford), Friday, October 31st at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation in Carolyn's name to the George Eastman Museum (www.eastman.org).
