James C. Alexander, age 78, of Gravois Mills, passed away July 14, 2025, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Warrensburg. He was born March 21, 1947, in Hammond, Indiana, a son of the late James H. and Helen (Cook) Alexander.
On June 4, 2011, at The Apostolic Church, he was united in marriage to his surviving wife, Barbara (Hamlett) Smith Alexander.
James served in the United States Army from 1979 to 1998 and then in the Active Guard for four years. He started working in the Heart Catheterization Lab for seven years and then served as a Physician's Assistant the remainder of his career. He retired with the rank of Major. James truly loved taking care of his soldiers.
He loved every moment spent on his dream farm in Gravois Mills, a place where his heart truly felt at home.
James Alexander was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ and was filled with the gift of the Holy Ghost according to the Word of God which is found in the Book of Acts chapter two and he experienced this salvation at The Apostolic Promise Church in Cape Girardeau Missouri Pastored by Reverend Timothy Lee.
James was a kind, giving man who had strong beliefs in Jesus. He wanted everyone he encountered to know that Jesus loved them no matter their situation or what they had done in their life. He personally knew the saving Power of the Holy Ghost and he knew every person needed it. There is a cap he always wore which stated "Jesus No Other Name". When you saw him, you would see the cap. When he would go out to eat, he would sit down take his cap off and face it toward the patrons in the restaurant. He was definitely a man who wanted to introduce Jesus to anybody and everybody. He loved God and worshiped God at the United Pentecostal Church in Versailles even when he could barely stand or walk. His friendship & unfailing love for God will always be remembered for truly earth's loss is Heaven's gain.
In addition to his wife, Barbara, he is survived by his sons, Christopher Alexander (Juli) of San Antonio, Texas and Allen Smith (Penny) of Fruitland, Missouri; grandchildren, T.J. Alexander, Max Alexander, T.J.
