James "Jim" Charles Arndt was born on April 15, 1933 in Hubbard, Saskatchewan, Canada to Frederick and Gisella (Langenburger) Arndt. Jim attended schools in Canada, Michigan and Minnesota, graduating from Felton, MN High School.
Jim married Alido Thue in 1952. They lived in Moorhead, MN where Jim worked at Keifer Chevrolet while attending Moorhead State University. After graduating, Jim worked for the Ford Motor Company, moving to Montana for 3 years before returning to Minnesota where he taught auto mechanics at Fargo High School and then at Moorhead Technical College until his retirement in 1996.
Jim and Alida loved traveling (both by car and Jim's airplane) and visiting friends and family in many states and Canada.
Alida passed away in 2003. In 2004 Jim met his future wife, Patricia Schoeberl and they were married in 2005. Jim then moved to Park Rapids where he has since resided. Jim and Pat continued traveling and made Mission Texas their winter home for 10 years.
Jim passed away on November 6, 2024 after a long battle with dementia.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Ella; first wife, Alida; brother, Lawrence; sisters, Lorraine and Gloria.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia; sisters, Grace (Ron) Sundrud, Doris (Pat) Maloney, and Orma Olson; several nieces and nephews; 4 stepchildren, Lance (Jacque) Schoeberl, Sharon Rollins, Michael (Vicki) Schoeberl, Joseph (Marina) Schoeberl; and many step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 15, 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Assembly of God Church in Park Rapids. Visitation will be for 1 hour prior to the service.
