James Claiborne Arthur passed away peacefully around 1:15 am on October 13th, 2025. He was 89 years old. James was born December 5, 1935, to Homer S. & Ruby Hardage Arthur, in Leake County, MS.
Mr. James is survived by his children, Clay Arthur (Susan) of Union, Chad Arthur (Sandy) of Carthage, James Claiborne "Sonny" Arthur, Connie Scharnhorst (Steve), Kim Bergeron, all of Pascagoula, MS and Mike Arthur (Wendy) of Gardendale, Alabama. Mr. James had 12 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. He is also survived by a very special friend, Mr. Billy Boatner.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer & Ruby, brother Homer S. Arthur, Jr., sisters Jaqueline Lewis and Nell Hammonds.
Mr. James was a former Leake County Supervisor. He also worked as a Road Superintendent, working for numerous contractors for over 50 years.
Visitation will be 1:30 pm until 3:30 pm Tuesday, October 14, 2025. Services will be at 3:30 pm Tuesday, October 14, 2025, in the chapel at Wilcox Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Madden Cemetery, Madden MS.
