James Austin Obituary
James Boyd “Jim” Austin, age 73, of Mary’s Grove Rd., passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at his residence. He was born September 9, 1950, in Mecklenburg County to the late James Boyd Austin, Sr. and Ruth Huffstickler Austin. He retired from O’Reilly Auto Parts. Jim loved the beach and enjoyed shagging.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ronnie Austin.
Survivors include his wife, Debbie Beam Austin; daughters, Michelle Surratt and Nikki Bess and husband, Brenton; grandchildren, Taylor Philbeck, April Austin, Jaime Whitley, Gabe Bess, Lukas Bess, Zoey Bess; great grandson, Jordan Philbeck; brother-in-law and wife, Sam and Kristen Beam; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Carpenter-Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Jack Gouge and Rev. Dr. Bill Lowe officiating and Martel Sigmon singing. Burial will be private.
