James Robert Banther, a cherished father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away on June 2, 2024, in Indianapolis, Indiana, at the age of 89. Born on April 5, 1935, in Sullivan, Indiana.
James proudly served in the United States Air Force and Reserve, a testament to his unwavering patriotism and valor. Following his military service, he embarked on a successful career with BMG, formerly General Electric and R.C.A., where he dedicated 42 years before retiring.
Beyond his professional life, James was deeply involved in various associations. He was a respected member of American Legion Post 355, serving as Past Commander, and was also affiliated with American Legion Beech Grove post 276, V.F.W. Post 908, Centre Lodge No. 23, F.& A.M., Scottish Rite, Valley of Indianapolis, Murat Yacht Club, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Beech Grove, Indiana.
He leaves behind a loving family: sons Marvin L. and wife Starla, William R., and James R. and wife Kathy. Five grandchildren Marvin L. Jr., Justin R., Micki L., Marissa L., and Robert C.; and six great grandchildren.
A celebration of Jamess life will be Saturday, June 22 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm at American Legion Post#355 7610 S. Meridian St. Indianapolis, IN 46217.
