James Baron Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kepner Funeral Home - Elm Grove on Mar. 4, 2026.
James Robert (Bob) Baron, 83, of Wheeling, WV, passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV.

Bob was born April 18, 1942, son of the late Robert Eugene and Shirley May Ault Baron of Wheeling, WV.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Auber Baron, four brothers, David, Keith, Bill, and Mike Baron and nephew Joey Baron.

He is survived by his son; Richard (Darlene Brooks) Baron, grandson, Nate (Nikki) Baron of Georgia, granddaughter, Nicole Baron of Florida, great granddaughter Blake and great grandson Brooks, childhood friend Jack Nemo, Carolyn (Keith) Baron, Joann (Auber) McCormick and several nieces and nephews.

Bob was the oldest of five boys. In their younger days, Bob was often seen walking around in Elm Grove with his brothers in tow. From the stories that we have heard, if you saw one of the Baron boys then the other brothers weren't too far behind. Bob really missed his brothers, especially Keith and Mike. He would regularly be seen having breakfast and coffee at the bar beside his house, shopping at Reisbeck's, and always loved a farmers' market.

To many people, Bob was better known as "Pap". A constant figure in his grandchildren's lives, Pap loved to visit Georgia and Florida. He even learned to use his "machine" (an iPad) to FaceTime every night and see his great-grandchildren. Pap was a kind man who loved to talk to everyone he meets. He had more stories to tell than one can remember, and he loved to tell the good ones more than once!

Bob was an amazing man who was blessed to live a full life and connect with so many people. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. We love you Pap.

There will be no visitation due to Bob's wishes. A Celebration of Life is being planned in the near future!
