James “Jim” Barry, WWII U.S. Navy Veteran and longtime resident of Palos Heights, passed away September 2, 2024, at the age of 98. He was preceded in death by his father, Michael and his mother, Hannah (nee O’Connor), sisters; Nora, Helen, Peggy and Dorothy and brothers; Maurice, Tom and Jerry, brothers-in-law; Pete and Chris Bradarich and sister-in-law, Mary Barry.
Jim will be remembered as the devoted husband of the late Antoinette “Toni” Barry. Loving father of Joyce (Bill) Ruhaak, Guy (Barb) Barry, Deb (late Joe Maschek) Barry, Jim (Claudia) Barry, late Maureen (Kevin Condon) Girkins and Marilyn (Elvo) Bucci. Doting grandfather “papa” of 15, great grandfather of 26 and great great grandfather of 4. Cherished brother-in-law of Joan Barry and fond uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Jim led his life rooted in prayer. He was a great listener, a jokester to his core and a loyal, caring and generous friend to many. He made everyone he met feel special and he was never shy to tell you how much you meant to him.
