James Norman Bata, 76, of Plainview passed from his earthly life February 3, 2025. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m., Friday, February 7, 2025, at Salem Cemetery in Plainview under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service.
The son of W.E. and Ruth (Wood) Bata. James is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ronnie Bata; and a sister, Patricia McQuirk.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Linda of Plainview; their son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Farrah Bata of Plainview; three grandchildren: Katie Bata, Hayley Ebarb (Travis), and Colten Warden; four great grands: Carlee, Adlee, Trace, and Tucker Ebarb; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Troy and Sandi Whitlow; and many nieces and nephews.
James was a graduate of Dardanelle High School, Arkansas Tech University with a bachelor's degree of Business, with post-graduate studies at Mid-South School of Banking in Memphis, Tennessee. He spent his 33-year banking career with First State Bank of Plainview and Ola. A devoted husband and father, he enjoyed family activities, golfing with Scott, gardening, running, and watching Razorbacks sports.
