James Robert Berg (June 1, 1944 - August 1, 2022) died peacefully at Brodie Ranch Nursing Home.
James Robert Berg (June 1, 1944 - August 1, 2022) died peacefully at Brodie Ranch Nursing Home.Jim was born in Joplin, Missouri to Robert Henry and Mary Puzak Berg. He married Pauline Aranda Berg. Jim retired from the army in 1990 as a Chief Warrant Officer after serving in Vietnam, Turkey and various posts in the United States. He also worked for Seton Hospital, Metropolitan Hospital and Cook-Walden Funeral Home. Jim was ordained a deacon in the Roman Catholic Church and served in the dioceses of Baltimore, MD and Austin, Texas. He was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, the Knights of Columbus and St. Catherine of Sienna parish.
Jim is survived by his wife, Pauline; his stepchildren, Daniel Zamora (Sherry), Silvia Zamora Sanders (Robert), and Rebecca Zamora; his grandchildren, Krista, David, Jacob, Tori, and Nia Zamora; his sister, Jean Leslie; niece, Susan Leslie and nephew, David Taylor.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mary Berg; his first wife, Elizabeth McBride Berg; his daughter, Caroline Berg and his brother-in-law Jack Leslie.
A visitation for James will be held Sunday, August 21, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas 78752 followed by a rosary service from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A memorial mass will occur Monday, August 22, 2022 at 10:00 AM at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 4800 Convict Hill Rd., Austin, Texas 78749 followed by a graveside service at Onion Creek Memorial Park, 11610 Chapel Lane, Austin, Texas 78748.
