James Best

It is with deep affection and solemnity that we announce the homegoing of James Dean Best, known fondly as Jim, on March 5th, 2025. Born on June 16th, 1959, in Woodbury, New Jersey, James was a beacon of love, inspiration, and steadfast faith. His life was a testament to his dedication to his family and his unwavering Christian faith. James' absence will be deeply felt.
James was a loving husband to Laura Maria (Laly) and a supportive father to his children, Eric and Victoria. He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life - playing basketball, exercising, playing the guitar, singing Christian music, cheering on the Philadelphia Eagles, and relishing the tranquility of nature during walks in the park with his wife and children. Yet, his fervor for life was most evident in his devotion to his Christian faith. James was a vessel of the gospel, spreading the word of God with conviction and joy. His favorite Bible verse, 2 Corinthians 5:8, "We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.", reflected his faith and his readiness to be present with the Lord.
James is survived by his beloved wife, Laura Maria Best, his cherished children Eric Thomas Best and Victoria Grace Best, and his siblings Kathryn Strony, William Best, Robert Best, Kelly Vergara, Lisa Frannicola, Joseph Best, many nieces, nephews and dear friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Kathryn Best, and his brothers John and Thomas Best.
Relatives and friends are invited to greet his family on Thursday, March 13th, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the Calvary Chapel of Philadelphia, 13500 Philmont Avenue Philadelphia. His Homegoing Service to celebrate his life will follow at 11:00 am.
