He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 71 years, Doris Black; parents, Annie Mae and Robert T. Black Sr.; brothers, Robert T. Black Jr., Lewis Delma Black, and Marion Eugene Black.
He is survived by his sister Annie Lou Ashley; numerous nieces and nephews; and special neighbor, who he called “the son he never had”, Gerald (Nicole) Tice, and his two daughters.
James served honorably in the United State’s Army for four years, and retired as a painter. He enjoyed golfing and fishing with friends, and loved to spend his time caring for his garden.
