James Blood Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cavanagh Family Funeral Homes, Inc. & Private Crematory - Norwood on Mar. 30, 2026.
On Wednesday, March 25, 2026, one of the most genuine men crossed into the waiting arms of our Lord. We knew he was ready, even though we did not want to let him go. As much as he loved life and his family, after a tragic accident on February 21, 2026, he knew that his life would forever be changed.
On April 21, 1946, James Edward Blood was born to Sophia (Pasternak) and Andrew Blood. He truly adored his parents and would do anything to make them proud of his accomplishments. Unfortunately, he was predeceased by both of his parents, his brothers Andy and Bill, his sisters Suzanne and Arlene, and Patsy.
In 1969, he married the woman who would be his wife for the next 57 years, Jacquie (Clarke) Blood. They resided in Norwood and raised 2 daughters. Jim worked day and night to provide for his family and to make their house a "home". He was ambitious, determined, and never stopped.
He was employed by USI/PDI early in life. When they closed, he began working as an administrator for the Interboro School District. His eyes were opened to the struggles of many in this community. Many do not realize that he provided money/food to the neediest families in the Interboro Community. That was his way of giving back. He wanted to remain anonymous. He retired right before the birth of his first grandchild. Yet he never stopped giving to the Interboro Community. Little did he know that his and Jacquie's next 20-plus years would be spent helping their children raise six grandchildren.
Jim is survived by his wife Jacquie, and his daughters Kelly Mack (Sean) and Jennifer Peterson (Brian). Most importantly, he is survived by his adoring grandchildren: Sean J., Emily, and Brynn Mack, and Isabella, Logan, and Aubrey Peterson. These grandchildren made him prouder than he had ever been! His eyes glimmered, and he beamed with pride when he heard of their accomplishments.
He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Sue Blood, and his brother-in-law, Lee D'jupman, on the Blood side of the family. Along with brothers-in-law, Bob Clarke (Marie), Ron Clarke (Pam), and sisters-in-law Helene Menichini (Ralph), and Carmella Clarke (predeceased Bill Clarke).
The family asks that his countless nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends carry on his tradition of helping others in need. As a family, we ask that you do 21 good deeds in his honor, as his 80th birthday is approaching on April 21st.
The family would be remiss not to mention neighbors Dustin and Colleen Kralle. They were always there for our parents, and we cannot thank them enough for their love, caring, and willingness to assist neighbors in need without hesitation! We are blessed to have you in our lives.
Finally, we can envision Mr. Dave and Dad now standing out at the fence in the backyard, having a beer and talking about the neighborhood! They are happy to be together again, and are awaiting the day when we are ALL together again.
Services and interment will be private for family.
