James Brewer

James Stanley Brewer passed away on January 20, 2026, in Colorado Springs. He was born in Dunkirk, NY on May 13, 1933, to Edmund J. and Shirley Brewer. He married Erika Bachmann (who he met while stationed in Germany) on June 23rd, 1960, resulting in 4 children. He graduated from St. Mary's Academy in Dunkirk NY in 1951. He graduated from NYS Ranger school in 1953 which also was the year that he was drafted for the Korean War. He achieved the rank of Sergeant. Attended OCS earning his commission as a 2nd Lieutenant. He served 2 tours in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne Division earning a Bronze Star with three Oak Leaf Clusters and a Purple Heart. James Retired in 1975 achieving the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Erika, brother Robert J Brewer, and granddaughter Jennifer Denton. He is survived by his 4 children, Mariette, Patricia (Joe Denton), Robert (Kathy), Thomas (Kimberlee), 10 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.
