James "Mike" Brien

James Michael Brien age 76, of Woodville passed into his new life after a short illness on August 24, 2025, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg, Mike was born to Lester A. and Vera (Dyer) Brien on May 12, 1949 in Kenton, OH. He grew up on a farm in Kenton and graduated from Hardin Northern High School. After graduation he proudly served in the U.S. Army in Germany as a Military Policeman from 1969-1971. Returning home to Kenton, he married Brenda L. Mayhorn on September 11, 1971, spending 54 wonderful years together.

For Mike his sons Donovan and Benjamin have always been foremost in his mind. He loved them both and always did his best to be a great father and mentor.

Mike worked Gross Electric, Northwest Electric, and McNaughton-McKay Electric over his career. He loved to talk, and this is probably why he did so well as an Electrical Sales Engineer. While Mike was in high school, he placed third 2 years in a row in the state track and field meet. Noted for his carpentry skills, Mike built his log home in 1985.

In addition to his wife Brenda, Mike is survived by his sons: Donovan Brien of Woodville, Benjamin (Dawn) Brien of Woodville, and granddaughter, Marissa. Sister, Linda (John) Harbison, brother, Tim Brien, sister-in-law, Vicki Mayhorn, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Mike was preceded in death by his parents.

Family and friends will be received 2-6 p.m., Friday, August 29, 2025, at the Marsh & Marsteller Funeral Home, 201 West Main Street, Woodville, OH. Mike will be laid to rest in a public graveside committal service 10 a.m., Saturday, August 30, 2025, in Dunkirk Cemetery, Dunkirk, OH. Officiating will be Pastor Greg King.
