Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. Jimmy Brossette spent his 90 years on this Earth following those two commandments. On August 15, 2022, he received his reward and went to heaven.
Funeral services for Dr. James Otto Brossette will be held at 10:30AM on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at Calvary Baptist Church, near Winnfield, Louisiana with Rev. Everette Geis, Rev. Ken Arnold, and Rev. Norris Curry officiating. Graveside services will be at Summer Grove Baptist Cemetery 8924 Jewella Ave. - Shreveport, LA at 4:00 PM under the direction of Southern Funeral Home, Winnfield.

Jimmy was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on March 23, 1932. He was the oldest child and worked on the family dairy farm. He worked hard, and studied hard, but the Lord had other plans for him. He was called to be a shepherd, leading others to Christ as a pastor. He was a graduate of East Texas Baptist University, and recieved his Doctorate of Divinity from United Theological Seminary.
He married Anna his darling wife and they spent a lifetime spreading the good news of Christ and raising up children to learn of the same good news. Anyone who knew Jimmy knew that he prioritized Christ above all else. He loved the Lord with all his heart, soul, and mind. Anyone who knew Jimmy also knew that he loved people. He and Anna opened their heart and their home to friends and strangers across Louisiana, Texas, and beyond. Anna went to be with the Lord in 2020, and Jimmy now joins her in Heaven.
Jimmy is survived by the families of her two sons: older son, Mark with his wife, Jeryl, of Alexandria, La., and granddaughters, Anna and Mary, and great grandsons, Aiden and Christian; younger son, Tim with his wife, Judy of Sulphur, La; grandsons, Ryan and his wife, Lauren, and great grandchildren, Andrew and Juliette, Jeremy and his wife, Brittany, and great grandchildren Nicholai, Kynz, and Parker. He is also survived by his brothers Marvin (Virginia) Brossette and Jack (Rita) Brossette; sister Elizabeth Brossette (Bobby)Tiller, and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Otto and Sarah Brossette, sisters-in-law Virginia Byrd and Anita McCoy, and brothers-in-law, T.J. Byrd and Eddie McCoy.

Bro. Jimmy performed the wedding ceremony for my parents in 1955 at Princeton Baptist Church in Princeton, LA . He always had a special place in their hearts. I remember Bro. Jimmy during the recovery of tornado that hit Bossier City in 1978 when they stationed at the church and fed the tornado victims. He was a great man of God.
