James "J.B." Brune

  James “JB” Brune, 59 years-old, was born December 27,1964 in Biloxi, Mississippi. JB passed away unexpectedly on Memorial Day, May 27th, 2024. 

 

JB is preceded by his father, Glenn Brune. 

He is survived by his two beautiful sons, Cooper and Brady Brune; his mother, Myra Brune; seven siblings: Sharon Brune Weeks (Roland), Catherin Brune Boudreaux (Wallace), Jennifer Brune Schmidt (Robbie), Rhonda Brune Schultz (Truman), Tod Brune (Mattie), Glenn Brune (Karla), and Reese Brune (Valerie); and his nieces and nephews: Amber Favre (Darrell), Truman Schultz III, Shelby Brune, Ashley and Nick Brune, Johnathon Goff, Miia Newman, Molly Schmidt, Bridgette Brune Hamlett (Marshall), Reese Brune, Wallace Boudreaux III, Leah and Ethan Schultz, and Panya and Nate Brune.

 

JB’s passion for baseball started young. He helped lead Ocean Springs baseball to their first ever Championship in 1982. He went on to continue his baseball career at the collegiate level at Delta State, Faulkner State, and then Old Dominion. He was then drafted by the Cincinnati Reds. After his baseball career, he settled down in Ocean Springs with his previous wife, Jana Brune, and had two sons. He spent his time fishing, traveling, dancing, and making memories with loved ones.

 

Anyone who knew JB knows how wonderful of a man he was. He never failed to put a smile on your face, had a contagious laugh, and was always the life of the party. He served his community and always provided a helping hand. You could count on him to be the first person on the dance floor ready to dance the night away. He loved fully with his actions and a smile on his face. He was a beloved father, son, brother, and friend that will be severely missed. 

 

The Brune family would like to give a special thanks to Mr. Clyde “Buddy” Gunn and Mrs. Libby Gunn for all they have done for JB and our family. We will forever be thankful and appreciative for all the Gunn family has done.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 31, 2024 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. Friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until mass begins. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Ocean Springs.
