James F. Bubert

James Fredrick Bubert, 92, of Peoria passed away on Friday, September 20, 2024. He was born in Teheran, IL. on October 18, 1931 to Fred and Grace (Phelps) Bubert. On October 12, 1984 he married Rosella Doyle, she survives.
Jim is survived by his wife, his children: Marc (Kayla) Bubert of Washington, IL., Meryl (Tim) Block of Deer Creek, IL., 5 grandchildren: Joshua Lopez, Anthony (RaeAnn) Block, Justin (Amy) Bubert, Kyleigh (Tom) Neave, Jadyn Block and 5 great-grandchildren: Opal and Blu Block, Grant and Blake Bubert and Theodore James Neave, 2 stepsons: David and Gregory Merritt and step grandchildren: Dylan and Lowell Carrico. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Morris Bubert, 2 brothers: Russell and Bobbie Bubert, sister Alice Gentry, great granddaughter Bertie Block and stepdaughter Laura Carrico.
Jim was a 1949 graduate of Mason City High School, served in the United States Army from 1952-1954, graduated from the University of Illinois in 1957 with a bachelor's degree in accounting and earned his CPA in 1958. He worked at Price Waterhouse and Company from 1957 until he got on at First National Bank of Peoria, which is now Commerce Bank, from 1959 to 1993, retiring as CEO in 1993.
He was a member of the University Methodist Church in Peoria. He was involved in the Peoria Lion's Club, Peoria Chamber of Commerce and the White Oak Lake Property Owners Association. He enjoyed spending time with Rose at their Florida residence, golfing, fishing, traveling, playing games, spending time with his family and watching the stock market.
A funeral will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City with Pastor Molly Spence-Hawk officiating, Burial to follow at Mason City Cemetery with Military Honor's. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 10:00 AM until the service at 11:00 AM.
