James Arlie Byers, age 77, of Jasper, Georgia, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, November 21, 2025, with his wife of 58 years by his side. Born on October 13, 1948, in Pickens, South Carolina, to Arlie and Ruby Byers, James proudly served his country in the United States Army and later made Jasper, Georgia, his lifelong home.
James is survived by his devoted wife, Cordia Joyce Jones Byers, of Jasper; his daughter and son-in-law, Michelle Byers Brown and David Brown, of Florence, South Carolina; his son, James Michael Byers and wife Lia, of Morrisville, North Carolina; as well as his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, John and Marlene Byers, of Jacksonville, Florida, and his sister and brother-in-law, Angie and Chad Jacks, of Pickens, South Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by his brother, Billy Byers.
Memorial arrangements will be announced at a later date.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Staff of Roper Funeral Home and Crematory.
