TUSCUMBIA, MISSOURI - James Hayden Caby Sr., of Tuscumbia, Missouri, entered eternal rest on Monday, August 19, 2024, in Ironton at the age of 84 surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on November 29, 1939, in Waynesville, Missouri, to the late Edgar Caby and Bertha (Rhodes) Caby. He was united in marriage to June (Hartwick) Caby on June 29, 1974, at the Pilot Knob Baptist Church in Pilot Knob, Missouri.
James is survived by his wife of 50 years, June Caby; his children, James "Jimmy" (Luna) Caby Jr. and William (Kelly) Jackson; his grandchildren, Joshua Jackson, Britnee (Derrick) Rosbeck, Summer Caby, Chengming Li, Britteniegh Turner, Christian Turner, and Jake Turner; his great-grandchildren, Natalie, Cambry, Charles, Lilly, and Willow; and his daughter-in-law, Angie Cunningham.
James was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Charles Vincent Jackson; and his sisters, Elaine (Denny) Pendleton and Faye Brockman.
James was a lifelong Mason, actively involved in the Masonic Lodge of Tuscumbia and dedicated to upholding its principles of brotherhood and service to others. He was a dedicated truck driver for several years and a passionate farmer, embracing the hard work and rewards that both offered him. In his spare time, he found joy in riding horses and cherished moments spent with his family and friends. He and his wife had the remarkable experience of living in Alaska for two years, a time they both loved and remembered fondly. His adventurous spirit and love for life left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until the start of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at Cozean Memorial Chapel. Memorial donations, if desired, may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116 or a Masonic Lodge of the donor's choice.
