James Derrell Calvert, 71, resident of Ninety Six, loving husband of Peggy Leopard Calvert passed away Sunday, August 3, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family.
Born in Ware Shoals, he was a son of the late James Louie and Addie Leslie Calvert. Derrell attended Ware Shoals schools, and worked at Greenwood Mills, Adams Plant and 96 School District before moving to Self Regional Health Care. He was a member of Cambridge Methodist Church in Ninety Six.
Surviving in addition to his wife of thirty-one years, Peggy are his daughter Amanda Long (John); stepson Jeff Graham (Angie) all of Ninety Six; grandchildren Schanen Sinnott (Courtney), Ashlen Sinnott (Dennis Tomaso), Garrett Graham, Gentry Long, and Aubrey Long; and one great grandchild, Barrett Tomaso. He is also survived by his brother Michael Calvert (Sherry) of Fountain Inn, sister Barbara Saxon of Anderson; brother-in-law Andy Leopard (Donna),sister-in-law Iris Leopard, and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother Randy Calvert, sister-in-law Helen Calvert, niece Kristy Calvert, nephew Mike Calvert, and brother-in-law Terry Leopard.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday from the Chapel of Blyth Funeral Home with Rev. Hank Brooks officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Ninety Six. Pallbearers will be grandsons along with Jonah Leopard, Jamie Calvert and Dennis Tomaso. Honorary escort will be Barry White, David Roark and Mickey Goodman.
The family is at the home and will receive friends at Blyth Funeral Home Monday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
