At the age of 94, our mom, Deaconess Louise Tolbert, gained her wings on October 12, 2025. Born in Greenwood, SC on January 9, 1931, a daughter of the late Lucille Fortune and Bobbie T Hill.
She was a faithful member of Springfield Baptist Church where she served on the Senior Choir and former Church Secretary.
She retired from Greenwood Mills Durst Plant.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, Eddie Tolbert; a sister, Julie Mae Holiday; two brothers, Robert Hill and Jasper Hill; a god sister, Lillie Ruth Hill; and a granddaughter, Marchelle Taggart.
Surviving are: four children: Martha Ann Taggart of Sutiland, Maryland, James Tolbert of the home, Brenda Louden and Sharon Tolbert of Anderson, SC; three sisters: Betty Hill and Bertha Carver of Philadelphia, PA, and Mamie (Frank) Gilchrist of Plum Branch, SC; three brothers: Thomas (Linda) Hill of Promiseland, SC, Clifford (Mary) Hill of Greenwood, and David (Gerri) Hill of Rocky Mount, NC; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at Springfield Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Knox officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers and Flower bearers will be family and friends.
Public viewing will be from 1:00 pm until 6:00 pm on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at Percival-Tompkins Funeral Home.
Mrs. Tolbert will lie in state at Springfield Baptist Church from 10:00 am until the service hour on Thursday.
The family is at 104 Hawkins Avenue, Greenwood, SC 29646.
