James Lawson Chapman, 57, of Evansville, passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2025, in Rice Lake, Wisconsin while traveling home from a fishing trip.
Jim was born on December 27, 1967, in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Georgia (DuVall) Chapman and the late Roger Dennis Chapman. The family lived in several states before making Evansville their home in the mid-1980s. Jim was part owner and President of his family's business, Nova Polymers, Inc. Jim loved spending time with his family, above all else. He enjoyed scuba diving, fishing, and was an avid sports fan. Jim was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Parish.
Surviving Jim are his wife of 35 years, Jennifer (Geiser) Chapman; his children and their spouses, Jordan & Colleen Chapman and Abbey & Dylan Klipsch; his mother, Georgia (DuVall) Chapman; sisters, Kathy Hirsch and her husband, Bob, and Denise Bartholomew; grandchildren, Graham Lawson, Evelyn Louise, and Margot Ann Chapman, and baby Henry William Klipsch who is due in August; mother-in-law, Betty Geiser; sister-in-law Holly Rose; and several nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, Roger; his grandparents, Irene and Vernon Chapman and Dee Dee and George DuVall; father-in-law, George Geiser; and nephew Dennis McLaughlin.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1600 Glendale Ave. Rev. Christopher Droste officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 until 7:00 PM on Friday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street, where there will be a memorial service at 6:00 PM. Friends may also visit the family from 12:00 PM until service time on Saturday at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1600 Glendale Ave.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society - St. Boniface Chapter, 1600 Glendale Ave, Evansville, IN 47712.
