James N. Baehl, 87, of Armstrong, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 10, 2025, at Deaconess Hospital Midtown Campus.
Jim was born on May 28, 1938, in Evansville to the late Wilfred and Henrietta (Gumbel) Baehl. He was a 1956 graduate of Mater Dei High School and served in the United States Army as a cook. Jim worked for Emge Packing Company for over 43 years and also on the family farm. Jim was a longtime member of St. Wendel Catholic Church, a member and past president of the Armstrong Recreation Center and a member of the Knights of St. John Commandery 282.
Jim is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary (Tepool) Baehl; by a daughter, Linda (Robert) Russell; sons, Randy (Karen) Baehl, Michael (Lori) Baehl, Roger (Melissa) Baehl and Russell (Jennifer) Baehl; two sisters, Martha Deer and Mary Meny; a brother, David Baehl and seven grandchildren, Elaine Baehl, Nathan (Erin) Baehl, Adam Baehl, Turner Baehl, Abby Baehl, Lacy Baehl and Melissa (Austin) Omohundro.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at St. Wendel Catholic Church, Rev. Ed Schnur officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Wendel Church Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family from 3:00 until 7:00 PM on Tuesday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street, where there will be a memorial service conducted at 6:00 PM. Friends may also visit with the family from 9:00 AM until service time on Wednesday at St. Wendel Catholic Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Armstrong Recreation Center, PO Box 101, Inglefield, IN 47618 or to St. Wendel Catholic Church, 10542 W. Boonville New Harmony Road, Evansville, IN 47720.
