James Christopher Ciancitto, known affectionately by friends and family as Chris, brought laughter and creativity into the world, brightening every room with his humor and heart. Born on April 30, 1969, in Raleigh, NC, Chris lived a life characterized by artistry, compassion, and an unmistakable knack for making people smile. Sadly, on a day that was a little less bright without him, Chris passed away from complications related to a recent stroke at Christiana Care Hospital in Delaware.
Chris's journey through life was filled with vibrant colors and bold strokes. After honing his artistic talents at the Art Institute of Philadelphia, he channeled his passion for design into a successful career, becoming the Graphics and Marketing Manager for Freeman's Auction House in Philadelphia and then Johnny Janosik's Furniture chain. His colleagues knew him as the guy who could find the funny in the footnotes, the mirth in the margins.
Beyond the office, Chris had a passion for cooking because he felt that cooking was a way to show his love. He was deeply committed and loving to his daughters and family. He is survived by his daughters, Ruby and Paige; his wife, Karen; his mother, Nancy; his late father, Dominic; his sister, Karen Meyers; his brother, Daniel Ciancitto; sister-in-law, Erin Ciancitto; and brother-in-law, Patrick Meyers. Among additional family, countless friends, colleagues and bandmates.
Funny, kind, and creative are the words that best describe Chris. He was the kind of man who could find humor in the everyday, a trait that made him not just the life of the party but the soul of it too. His jokes could defuse tension, and his laughter could cure the blues. Chris had a gift for turning the mundane into the magical, and his absence leaves a void that echoes with the remnants of his wit.
Chris's legacy is not only in the designs he created or the meals he crafted but, in the laughter, he sparked and the kindness he spread. He was a man who could find the punchline in the prose of life, and he shared that gift generously. To know Chris was to know joy, and to love him was to bask in the warm glow of his creative spirit.
