James Delfred Clemons, 94, of Elizabethtown passed away peacefully Friday, August 1, 2025 at his home surrounded by family and friends.
He was born May 21, 1931 in Pearman, Grayson County, Kentucky to Clarence Alfred and Ona Mae Manion Clemons.
He was saved as a boy at Broadford Missionary Baptist Church, Broadford, Kentucky. He was a charter member and deacon of Lone Oak Missionary Baptist Church near Millerstown, KY.
He was a retired warehouse worker for Army and Air Force Exchange Service and retired cattle farmer. He loved to go to church and truly loved singing gospel songs as a tenor singer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Pamela Sue Johnson, and a brother Coy Jefferson Clemons.
He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years Winifred Charline Carby Clemons of Elizabethtown, son Calvin Clemons (Sheila) of Elizabethtown, son-in-law Raymond Johnson of Fisherville, two grandchildren, Amos Clemons (Teri) of Elizabethtown, Lydia Copler (Jacob) of New Albany, IN, and four great-grandchildren Aurora, Augustus, and Marcus Copler, and Silas Clemons, a sister Melva Jean Clemons Taylor and many nieces and nephews and friends.
He was blessed to have Al (Sheila) Skidmore and Leon Logsdon as close supportive friends throughout life and in his last days.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 5th at 1:00 pm. ET at Lone Oak Missionary Baptist Church near Millerstown with burial in the New Lone Oak Cemetery. Brother Matthew Riggs and Brother Mikie Clemons officiating.
Visitation will be held at Manakee Funeral Home in Upton, KY. on Monday, August 4th from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm ET. and Tuesday, August 5th at the church from 10:00 am ET until the funeral.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be given in memory of Delfred to Lone Oak Church Cemetery Fund or Hosparus Health Central KY.
