James Jarrett (JJ) Clodfelter passed away Wednesday, December 17th at Hospice of the Piedmont in
High Point, NC.
JJ was born September 24, 1974, in High Point and was the son of James Charles Clodfelter, Jr. and Sheila Winslow Clodfelter. He was preceded in death by his father and is survived by his mother. JJ is also survived by a brother, Bryan Morrison Clodfelter, a niece, Chandler Losito (Drew), and a nephew, Bryan (Bryson) Morrison Clodfelter, Jr.
JJ lived life fully and with a great amount of passion. He was a 1992 graduate of Southwest Guilford High School. While in high school JJ developed a great love of motorsports and spent countless hours working with his friend, Michael Ritch, on his late model stock cars. After graduation, he went to work at Cale Yarborough Motorsports and quickly made a name for himself as a fabricator. He went on to work at Roush Racing for the majority of his NASCAR career. While at Roush Racing, he worked as a fabricator, pit crew member, and particularly enjoyed being a part of the research and development program. He spent countless hours in wind tunnels trying to shave thousandths of a second off their race cars. During his time at Roush Racing JJ was able to enjoy going to victory lane many times, mostly with the Mark Martin #6 team. JJ also went on to work with the Petty's and several other teams throughout his career. JJ never met a stranger and made a great deal of friends everywhere he went. JJ's hobbies were motorsports, motorcycles, cooking, watching car fabrication shows, and most of all spending time with his friends.
There will be a celebration of life/cookout in the Spring for family and friends to gather and tell JJ stories, of which there are countless stories to be remembered.
The family would also like to thank the wonderful nurses and doctors at Hospice of the Piedmont.
