James (Jim) Lewis Clor, age 83, of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, was called to eternal rest on March 19, 2024. He was born on December 7, 1940, in Sault Ste. Marie to Alfred and Leona (Brabant) Clor.
Jim spent most of his high school years at Yuma Test Station where he attended Yuma Union High School in Yuma, Arizona, before moving back to Brimley, Michigan, as a senior and graduating from Brimley High School with the Class of 1960. He joined the United States Army soon after graduation, where he successfully completed the 25th Infantry Division (NCOA) Noncommissioned Officer Academy. He also earned the United States Army Sharpshooter Badge and military security clearance. He served three years, including two years and six months of foreign service before returning home to Brimley to marry Brenda Teeple, who predeceased him in 1974. In 1984, Jim married Luann Maglothin (Poirer) who predeceased him in 2018.
Jim was the Lock Master at the Corp of Engineers Inland Water Route of Michigan in Alanson, Michigan, before being transferred to Sault Ste. Marie where he retired from the Soo Locks in 1996.
Jim was a proud member of the American Legion and the Legion Riders. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. He had a big heart and a great smile. His passing leaves a void in the family that cannot be filled.
Jim is survived by his sons, Lawrence, James, and John of Sault Ste. Marie; daughter, Frances "Patty" (Keith) VerWiebe of Bay Mills, Michigan; stepdaughter, Carmen Maglothin of Waterford, Michigan; grandsons, Joe, Gary, and Travis Kravis; granddaughters, Brenda (Mitchell Willis) and Jeanie Clor; step-grandchildren, Glen, Rachel, and Dinah; ten great-grandchildren; as well as eleven step-great grandchildren; brother, William (Delores) of Shields, Michigan; and two nephews, Michael (Sarah) Clor of Scottsdale, Arizona and Ronald (Jen) Clor of Saginaw, Michigan.
