James Colangelo Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lloyd Maxcy & Sons Beauchamp Chapel, Inc. - New Rochelle on Jan. 6, 2026.
It is with deep sadness that the family of James Vito Colangelo announces his passing on Sunday morning January 4th 2026 at the young age of 94. A life time resident of New Rochelle and born to Margaret and Bernadino Colangelo and raised on Colangelo place. As the youngest James survived his siblings, Rose Sabia, Carmela Sabia, Anna Tobin, Marie Freda and his brother Anthony Colangelo. James went to New Rochelle high school. He later served in the Army in the Korean war as a tank mechanic and was stationed in Germany. He loved to share his stories of his time in Germany. Later James was fortunate to have married the love of his life Louise Feola on June 10th 1956, and they were married 63 years until her passing March 16th 2019. After the war he decided to try his hand in the construction business building houses, which evolved into his own carpentry business. Jim has indelibly left his mark with his carpentry throughout the Westchester area and truly loved what he did as he worked until his mid 80's. "Jim " as he was known, raised three sons, James Jr, Robert, Ronald and daughter, Deborah who unfortunately passed away in November of 2015. In his later years Jim and Louise spend many sunny days at Beckwith Pointe Beach Club. Jim enjoyed traveling, golfing and spending time with family and friends in their winter home in Delray Beach, Florida. He will forever be remembered for his fun-loving spirited personality. He was great story teller and those who knew him well were fortunate to share many a laughs. James will forever remain in his 10 grandchildren and 2 great granddaughters hearts. He leaves behind a legacy of Colangelo sons who will greatly miss him.
