James Virgil Collins, 84, Veteran and Devoted Family Man

James Virgil Collins, 84, of Graham, TX, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.

Born on January 15, 1941, in Detroit, Texas, James was the son of the late Earl and Ellen Collins. After graduating from Iowa Park High School, he proudly served in both the United States Marine Corps and the United States Air Force, where he enjoyed a long and distinguished career.

James was known for his quiet strength, deep faith, and love of the outdoors. He found joy in beekeeping, fishing, and hunting, and was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

He is survived by his loving wife, Winona Collins; three sons: Donald Collins of Graham, Eddie Collins of Whitehouse, and Tommy Collins of Clarksville, Tennessee; three grandchildren and one great-grandson. He is also survived by two sisters: Barbra Ramsey of Hugo, Oklahoma, and Lillian Brown of South Carolina.

James was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Collins (1997); his parents, Earl and Ellen Collins; his son, Ray Collins; his sister, Louise; and his brother, Henry Collins.

Graveside services will be held at 4:00 PM on Friday, October 2, 2025, at Loving Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to attend and celebrate the life of a man who gave so much to his family, his country, and his community.
