Don Brian Todd, of Iowa Park, Texas, passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at the age of 20. He was born on August 30, 2004, in Macomb, Illinois. Don was the son of Alfiya and Brian Todd. In May 2022, Don graduated from Iowa Park High School, and he joined the U.S. Army in September, signing up for military service on his 18th birthday. It was his childhood dream to become a soldier and serve his country. After completing Basic Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, in February 2023, Don was assigned to Fort Campbell, Kentucky, and shortly after, he deployed to Romania and Germany for nine months. In June 2024, Don successfully completed one of the most challenging and rigorous courses in the Army – Sapper School. He was the only participant under 20-years old, held the lowest rank, and shortest time-in-service, of all course participants -- 40% of the aspiring Sappers did not pass the hardships of the course. Becoming a U.S. Army Sapper attest to his tenacity and drive. In April of this year, Don was one of 70 participants in the Army's Best Sapper Team Competition. He and his team partner, First Lieutenant Jean, came in 22nd among 35 teams, from the Army, Marines, and West Point Military Academy. Once again, Don had the distinction of being the youngest and lowest ranking participant in the competition. In June of this year, he was promoted to Sergeant, and selected as a Squad Leader. During his school years, Don participated in many sports, but military service brought his physical strength and endurance to new levels, earning the highest fitness and performance scores across the Army. His life tragically ended, but his memory will stay in the hearts of all who loved him. Don is survived by his mother Alfiya Todd, his father Brian Todd, grandmother Bernice Todd, uncle Gerald Todd and wife Loren, cousin Ashley Bolton, her husband Tim, their daughters Savannah and Meadow, and his beloved Marina Vasti, who was a big part of his life this past year. A celebration of Don's life will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 9, at Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home Chapel, 2812 Midwestern Parkway, Wichita Falls, Texas, 76308. A private interment, for immediate family only, will follow, with a Full Military Honors, conducted at Highland Cemetery, 862 Rogers Road, Iowa Park, Texas, 76367. In lieu of flowers, Don's family requests donations to be sent to the Wichita Falls Area Food Bank, at 1230 Midwestern Parkway, Wichita Falls, Texas 76302, phone number, (940)766-2322

I served with Todd when we were both still PFCs, he was one of the most squared away men I've had the privilege of meeting. He helped me through a tough time with my own family. His friendship meant more than I was able to express. To his parents, you raised a fine young man. The Army failed one of the most exemplary men to grace its ranks. I can't say enough good things about Todd, I only wish I got to know him longer. Rest in peace Sgt. Todd.

I remember Don from being in my 3rd grade class at Sunday School many years ago. He was such a smart and respectful young man, and a deep thinker. He was a true joy to have in class. I'm so sorry for your loss.
